Abbie Beacham, Ph.D.
Abbie Beacham, PhD is a Clinical Psychologist who has spent her career working in healthcare and medical settings. She has her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. Dr. Beacham also completed her internship in Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center and Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Kentucky Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry. Over the past four years she has worked extensively with physicians and other healthcare professionals across the Rocky Mountain Region addressing their stress, burnout and well-being. As part of this work, she collaborated with colleagues to develop and implement evidence-based well-being programs for health professionals. Her most recent training “Cultivating Personal Resilience” has been presented to hundreds of professionals in both in-person and online formats. Dr. Beacham recently relocated from University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO to assume the position of Director of Behavioral Science at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Louisville, KY. She is co-founder of Project Well-Being where she continues to do presentations, trainings and online well-being programs to audiences large and small. A licensed psychologist in Colorado and Kentucky (provisional) she maintains a small private practice serving healthcare professionals via online consultation and therapy. In her spare time, she can be found hanging out with her family or pedaling her road bike (“Ruby”) among the birds, trees and streams in Kentucky and Colorado. Her guilty pleasure is searching the world over for the best cup of coffee (medium-dark roast please).
Debbie Sorensen, Ph.D. (Denver)
Dr. Debbie Sorensen is a clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from Harvard and 15 years of experience, who has worked on interdisciplinary medical teams and in healthcare settings for many years. She is currently in private practice in Denver, working with healthcare professionals and other adults with burnout, depression, and anxiety using an evidence-based behavioral approach. In addition to private practice, she works part-time Clinical Research Psychologist at the VA’s Rocky Mountain MIRECC for Suicide Prevention, and is a co-creator and co-host of the podcast Psychologists Off the Clock.
Jennifer Olson-Madden, Ph.D. (Denver)
Dr. Olson-Madden is a Clinical and Research Psychologist licensed in the State of Colorado and is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus, School of Medicine in the Departments of Psychiatry and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Her training and professional work in the mental health field has existed exclusively in major medical centers and health settings. She has over 15 years of experience in clinically treating and developing/implementing and evaluating promising interventions for individuals with co-occurring mental health and physical health concerns, with particular emphases on trauma, substance misuse and risk for suicide. She maintains a private practice in Denver, working primarily with young-to-middle-aged professionals who are coping with anxiety and trauma responses.
Kerry Makin-Byrd, Ph.D (Denver)
Dr. Kerry Makin-Byrd is a clinical psychologist on a mission to help professionals create deep, meaningful lives. She uses evidence-based therapy and coaching to foster resilience, mindfulness, and purpose-driven work. Dr. Makin-Byrd received her Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, and subsequently received advanced training at the University of California San Francisco and Stanford University. She has held professional appointments at the National Center for PTSD and at New York University. She has served as a researcher and national subject matter expert on trauma and PTSD, and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed studies, Congressional reports, and clinical chapters on trauma and resilience. She received the Special Contribution Award from the Veterans Health Administration in recognition of the national impact of her policy contributions and clinical teaching on VA mental health services. Kerry is a founding board member of the Kids Compassion Project, volunteers with the Dumb Friends League, and enjoys hiking with her husband and daughter.
Bennett Leslie, Psy.D. (Denver and Boulder)
Bennett Leslie is a psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in a variety of health care settings. He has been active in residency training programs, teaching provider-patient communication, and health care ethics. In addition to his teaching and consulting responsibilities, he sees patients in his private practice using video conferencing, and when appropriate, in Denver and Boulder. He is committed to using evidence-based therapies that are tailored to an individual’s values and goals.
Arnica Buckner, Ph.D. (Denver)
Dr. Arnica Buckner earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and has been in private practice in since 2007. She specializes in the provision of evidence-based behavior therapies and incorporates mindfulness and self-compassion practices into much of her work with clients. Her experience includes work with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and interpersonal difficulties. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado and led a variety of CBT and DBT focused groups at various treatment centers in the state.
Meg McKelvie, Ph.D. (Boulder)
Meg McKelvie, Ph.D. is a therapist, consultant and trainer specializing in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other Evidence-based Psychotherapies. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and couples therapy. Prior to her work in private practice, she was a psychologist in the Family Program at the Rocky Mountain VA Medical Center where she specialized in developing, delivering and evaluating compassionate, evidence-based treatments for couples where one partner is struggling with trauma. In addition, she served as a nationally-recognized trainer and consultant in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma for the Veteran's Affairs Health Care System. As a co-founder of ImpACT Psychology Colorado, she often works with healthcare providers and first responders in coping with burnout, stress, relationship challenges and on the job trauma.
Dr. Colleen Ehrnstrom (Louisville)
Dr. Colleen Ehrnstrom is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty practice in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Areas of expertise include insomnia and other sleep disorders, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Ehrnstrom received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree from Boston University, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She completed additional post-license certification in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (BCT) from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).Dr Ehrnstrom is the co-author of the book End the Insomnia Struggle: A Step by Step Guide to Help you Get to Sleep and Stay Asleep which offers a comprehensive, personalized sleep program that integrates the physiology of sleep, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
